Andrew Stockil
Managing Partner & Commercial Director
Andrew is a seasoned entrepreneur having founded and grown multiple businesses across various industries. Starting with Nuvo Consulting in 2015, Andrew has within his role as CEO of Nuvo Group, founded, incubated, and partially exited several start-ups that have gone on to independence. In 2021 Nuvo Group businesses turned over more than R450 million in Revenue.
Having been instrumental in the founding of two Renewable Energy start-ups which have now grown into multi-million-rand businesses, the logical next for Andrew and his renewable energy partnership was to develop, build, fund, and own renewable energy assets through Nishati.
Andrew thrives on connecting people, ideas, and businesses, creating value along the way, but as a Project Manager at heart, this includes a methodical plan and managed process. Managing the business side and scaling a business is Andrew’s passion and so he dedicates his energy to the work behind the scenes, structuring and ensuring the commercial success of Nishati.
Varsha Dookran
Head of Project Development and Investment
Varsha, a Chemical Engineer with a dual Masters in Business Administration and Engineering Management, boasts over 17 years of experience in Business Enablement and Project Management. During her 15-year tenure at Sasol, she excelled in technical analysis, investment assurance, economic analysis and modeling, leadership, budget management, governance, and strategic planning. Being one to embrace new challenges, Varsha explored an opportunity in the energy sector as Business Development Lead at Apollo Africa, where she lead the application of the company's trading license and drove implementation of innovative processes and systems to facilitate rapid business growth.
Presently, as Head of Project Development and Investment at Nishati, Varsha oversees the development of solar, wind, storage, and hybrid energy projects, managing key aspects such as grid connectivity, permitting processes, and managing stakeholders such as municipalities, Eskom, the Energy Regulator, and others, while actively participating in business strategy and decision-making.
Varsha's passion lies in leveraging her expertise to drive sustainable growth and deliver impactful solutions that address the energy needs of Nishati’s customers.
Robert Von Gruenewaldt
Partner & Technical Director
With 20 years of experience in Electronic Engineering in the Telecoms and Renewable Energy industries and a Founding Director of Nuvo Energy, a large EPC in PV installations, Rob is a highly experienced Technical Executive. Rob thrives on Energy and BESS Systems design and integration as well as the business case economic analysis, capital budget formulation, and risk analysis of renewable energy projects.

Rob’s passion is integrating BESS into renewable energy projects’ business cases as a norm rather than an exception and specialises in designing hybrid energy systems that can operate independently of the grid. Rob believes this is the future of the global energy system.
Rob’s experience in designing renewable energy systems for clients that have a measurable and verifiable benefit to the client in monetary and operational efficiencies, allows him to assist Nishati in developing renewable energy projects that have a positive IRR and business case from the first kW-generated.
